A woman is dead and eleven other people were wounded in a barrage of gunfire in New Orleans Warehouse District late Sunday night.
"Members of the New Orleans Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of an unidentified adult female and the shooting of five adult males and six adult females," Public Information Officers Garry Flot said in a news release. "The offense occurred Sunday April 14, 2024 at approximately 11:56 p.m., in the 800 block of South Peters Street."
The Republic bar is in that block.
Event websites show rapper Anycia was performing at The Republic Sunday night during an event called "Church on Sundaze." It is an event that takes place weekly at different clubs around New Orleans.
"Officers responded to a shooting and upon their arrival, found the victim fatally shot lying on the sidewalk and other victims shot."
Flot says EMT's took some of the other victims to the hospital, while others went in private vehicles.
"The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time."
