The Department of Energy says it’s completed the last batch of the largest-ever release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. It was a sale of 15-million barrels of oil to six companies, including Phillips 66, Valero, and Marathon. The federal government has sold 180-million-barrels of oil from the reserve in a bid to reign in rising gas prices. Today’s Louisiana average for a gallon is $3.27, up 17 cents from last month.
