More than $2 billion worth of seafood caught in illegal or unregulated waters is finding its way to U.S. dinner plates each year, evading the federal government’s import-monitoring system.

Environmental group Oceana notes that NOAA’s monitoring system covers only 40% of the nation’s total imports of fish caught in the ocean. That allows lots of imports of seafood products that contribute to overfishing or are mislabeled to consumers.

Carnival Cruise Line says two more ships will leave its fleet: the Sensation and the Ecstasy, the two oldest ships in the cruise operator's fleet. Carnival also announced several deployment changes. The Ecstasy will reposition to Mobile for departures from March through Oct.

Cruises from Mobile that were planned for the Carnival Sensation from Oct. through Sep. of 2023 have been cancelled.
