Police say there was not a shooting on the campus if Ponchatoula High School today, but someone called authorities claiming there had been gunfire at the school.
"Deputies are currently on scene at Ponchatoula High School investigating a possible prank call regarding a shooting on campus," the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office said in an email. "Sheriff Daniel Edwards says a 911 call was received shortly after 9:00 AM claiming there was a shooting on campus."
Investigators say that at the time of the call, the school resource officer was on campus and confirmed that no incident had taken place.
"Detectives are investigating the origins of the phone call at this time, and will release more information if it becomes available."
