Well…we’ve finally heard from the Cantrell Administration on the drive to remove her from office.

Maggie Carroll, a close advisor to Cantrell who ran both her runs for office as campaign chair, sounded off.

Carroll threw shade on the recall campaign openly doubting there are enough signatures to force a recall vote.

She also called the lawsuit filed by the recall organization a “Republican-style purge of voter rolls.”

The recall team is refusing to issue a count of how many signatures they’ve collected, but Carroll has countered in a prepared statement:

"It's clear the recall campaign's goal is to block transparency as long as it possibly can, conduct a Republican-style purge of voter rolls, and divide New Orleans," The statement reads.  "With that work afoot, what conclusion can we draw other than that they don't have the number of signatures they need? It’s also concerning they want to disenfranchise thousands of New Orleanians ahead of the gubernatorial election."

The attorney for the recall group reject Carroll’s notion out of hand, telling the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate the lawsuit against Orleans Parish Registrar Sandra Wilson is not a purge of voter rolls.

The lawsuit launched by NoLaToya.org is set to be heard Monday in Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
