Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s chief of staff may not practice law in Louisiana until next December after the Louisiana Supreme Court sanctioned him for misusing a client’s money.
The court suspended Clifton Davis’s law license for 366 days effective Tuesday.
According to our partners at NOLA.com, charges filed by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel accused Davis of spending a client’s funds for personal expenses. The charges also claimed Davis made court appearances after his law license had lapsed and when he was ineligible to practice law.
The ODC claimed Davis refused to cooperate with its investigation by failing to respond to notices of violation and subpoenas for financial records.
