Just days after flying to Montréal for a climate conference, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is in another foreign country for another round of conferences.
This time, Cantrell is in the Middle East, joining other U. S. mayors who are taking part in the Qatar Economic Forum.
According to a City Hall spokesperson, Cantrell will meet with the U. S. Ambassador to Qatar, New Orleans native Timmy Davis, during her visit. Cantrell is also scheduled to meet with Dr. Abdulla bin Abdulaziz, Qatar’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change.
Cantrell’s schedule, the spokesperson says, also includes her attending the opening session of the forum, during which Cantrell and her fellow leaders will discuss ways to diversify and enhance the Gulf South’s economy and how to grow the region’s international prominence.
Cantrell will return to New Orleans next week in time to attend the ribbon cutting of the new New Orleans Police Department headquarters in the Central Business District.
