The petition drive to put a recall of New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell on the ballot is in its final weeks.
Political analyst Clancy DuBos has seen plenty of recall attempts but this may be the best-organized
"No other previous recall petition to my knowledge in Louisiana has been this well-organized, or this well funded," said DuBos.
But even that may not get it over the hump of more than 53,000 verified signatures of New Orleans registered voters.
"If this kind of effort is not enough to put them over the top, then basically nobody will ever be recalled in New Orleans."
DuBos notes the last regular election, when Cantrell won reelection, did not get a whole lot of turnout.
"She could only get 19 percent of all the registered voters to cast a ballot for her, so a 20 percent to sign a recall petition is a pretty high bar," DuBos said.
