Jefferson Parish Sheriffs investigating multiple reports of a roving group of people pulling on car door handles in the early morning hours in Metairie.

The incident began around 2:15am when deputies were dispatched to Lake Avenue and Pine Street.


Deputies came upon the suspects who scattered when approached.

Authorities located the suspect’s car nearby and attempted to stop it.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and led deputies on a brief pursuit.

During the vehicle pursuit, an occupant of the suspect vehicle fired shots at the deputies, who were attempting to stop them.

Deputies were able to get the vehicle stopped and make apprehensions on two adult male occupants. The officers did not discharge their firearms during the incident.

After establishing a perimeter around the initial crime scene at Lake and Pine, two other suspects were located with the aid of a police dog. The final suspect was located using a JPSO Drone searching the area.

The three were taken into custody.

Late reports into WWL say the suspects are all Honduran nationals in the country illegally. Four of the men reside in Orleans Parish, the fifth lives in Metairie.

Jefferson Parish Sheriffs ask anyone who believes their vehicle was burglarized or has surveillance video of the incident is asked to call Crimestoppers.
