After Mardi Gras parades were canceled in Jefferson Parish, moves are being made by parish leaders to bring a parade to Metairie on September 25, according to Nola.com.

The news outlet reports that Jefferson Parish Councilmember Jennifer Van Vrancken announced Friday that several Carnival krewes reached out to her with a plan to put on a parade in September.

"We have been waiting for an opportunity and I'm excited that it's here," Van Vrancken told Nola.com.

Van Vrancken plans to introduce a resolution permitting the parade at the July 21, council meeting.

If approved, the parade would start on Severn near West Napoleon, and then roll on Metairie Road, Bonnabel, and Veterans Boulevard, where it will end at Martin Behrman.
