Jefferson Parish Public Schools and the Archdiocese of New Orleans canceled Wednesday classes for all of its schools on the Eastbank of Jefferson Parish.
The church closed its schools because of the boil water advisory caused by a broken water main near the Jefferson Parish treatment plant.
Archdiocese officials said there would not be sufficient water pressure for the schools to operate safely.
Additionally, Jefferson Parish Head Start Centers, Community Centers, Libraries and JPRD facilities on the Eastbank will be closed Wednesday.
All other government buildings, including the Yenni Building, will be open.
