We are in the deep freeze across South Louisiana now and the record snowfall from yesterday is not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Travel will be severely restricted for a couple more days.

On the Causeway they recorded up to a foot and a half of snow in spots.

General Manager Carlton Dufrechou says they face a gargantuan task clearing the 26 mile spans.

"It's got anywhere from ten inches to 18 inches," he told WWL.

Doing the math,  Dufrechou says they have 6.5 million cubic feet of snow to clear.

He would love to have that out of the way today or tomorrow.

"I'd like to say it is possible, but I think we are looking more at Friday now."

The bridge boss says they will keep working, no matter the odds.

"A monumental effort, more than I've ever seen to get one of those lanes open."
