Nothing just happens, doing takes doers. And, right now, Canal Street is in a pretty bad way. From public safety to transportation to parking to beautification—the famed thoroughfare has a lot that needs to be addressed, especially as it hosts over 8 million visitors every year.
That’s where the Celebrate Canal Coalition comes in.
Today I spoke with Sandra Herman, founder of Celebrate Canal. They’re in the midst of developing plans to revamp Canal Street, with the goal of bringing back more business, more tourism, and more revenue for the city.
We can’t reveal everything in store, but part of these plans include a guided historical tour by Scrim the Dog and partnerships partnering with local artists, musicians, and businesses, all intended to uplift experiences and draw out the cultural significance and resilience of our great city.
