Celebrate Independence Day Saturday and Sunday

Fourth of July celebrations are back, and the weekend will be full of activities.

After a year off, the Uncle Sam Jam is back at Lafreniere Park. Wilson Phillips, The Guess Who, and many more will provide music leading up to a fireworks show at 9 p.m. The Uncle Sam Jam starts at 3 p.m.


In New Orleans, City Park CEO Cara Lambright says it is also the return of their annual "Happy 3rd of July" party.

"It is an evening of family and friends and fund and fireworks," said Lambright. We just can't wait to host it. It's going to be just a wonderful event where everybody can be together and feel that sense of community."

Fireworks start at 9 p.m. in City Park as well.

St. Charles Parish also celebrates the 4th on the 3rd. The 31st annual Independence Day celebration takes place in the West Bank Bridge Park at 6 p.m.

More fireworks will be display Sunday night in Chalmette as "St. Bernard Parish Salutes America." It starts at 5:30 p.m. on the 4th, with fireworks lighting up at 9:30, on the grounds of the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center at 8245 W. Judge Perez Drive.

In Mandeville, Light up the Lake kicks off Sunday, July 4, with a fireworks display on the Mandeville Lakefront between Coffee and Carroll Streets. People will be able to set up their picnic site beginning at 10:00 am.

Live entertainment by The Boogie Men, will take the stage at 6:00 pm.

Covington celebrates Independence Day with Sparks in the Park. The fireworks display is Saturday, July 3, in Bogue Falaya Park, 4:30 pm – 9:00 pm. The fireworks burst at 8:50 pm. The celebration also features a hot dog eating contest and a watermelon eating contest.
