Former First NBC Bank CEO Ashton Ryan received a 14-year sentence Wednesday for federal fraud and conspiracy convictions.
Early this year, a jury found Ryan guilty on 46 counts related to First NBC making questionable loans that prosecutors said contributed to the largest bank failure ever in Louisiana.
The judge also ordered Ryan to pay more than $214 million in restitution.
Ryan could have received a life sentence under the federal sentencing guidelines. Prosecutors asked for 30 years.
Ryan, who is 75 years old, must surrender to begin his sentence by November 6.
