(1010 WINS) -- A pop-up shop for a sneaker collaboration between Adidas and AriZona Iced Tea turned chaotic Thursday morning -- fueled by 99-cent sneakers -- and forced NYPD to shut down the event.
Hundreds of sneaker heads waited in line for hours at 208 Bowery, some lining up since Wednesday night to be able to buy the limited edition sneakers for just 99 cents.
"I walked up as the police were dispersing people cuz they was all fighting!!!" tweeted user @domthuhbalm
I came back at 5am & settled in about 200people deep. I was violently awakened & bulldozed at 8am by a mob of people rushing the streets. As I tried to leave I was wedged into a sea of people from the very back were pushing & shoving to the front of no where. (2/3) pic.twitter.com/vL3VbsFAXg
