A Sunday afternoon crash threw a child out of a vehicle and killed the youngster.
"Officers were called to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection. Upon arrival, officers discovered a Seven-year-old boy had been ejected from one of the vehicles. EMS arrived and transported the boy to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later," according to a news release.
NOPD says that it happened just after 2:00pm.
There was no initial word on any charges.
"Through investigation, it was determined that the mini-van the boy was traveling in was headed North on Cleveland Avenue when the driver attempted to cross South Broad. The driver of another vehicle was headed East on South Broad Street and the two vehicles collided in the intersection."
It was at that point the little boy flew out of the vehicle.
"Upon impact, the mini-van rotated and slammed into the neutral ground at which time the victim was ejected from a back, side window."
