Police say a child shot early this morning told EMS he was burglarizing cars on the Westbank of Jefferson Parish.
"While being transported to the hospital, the victim reported to EMS that he was shot while breaking into vehicles," JPSO Sergeant Brandon Veal said in an email. "Attempts are being made to locate vehicle burglaries in the area. Investigators are also working to identify the victim."
JPSO 911 sent notification of the shooting just before 3:45am.
"Juvenile male victim, life-threatening injuries," the notification said.
It happened at 1229 Aberdeen Drive in Harvey.
The JPSO is urging anyone who is a victim of vehicle burglary near this area to call and report it. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call our Gun Violence Unit at 504-364-5300 or contact Crimestoppers.
