CHRISTMAS EVE DAY

Things go downhill as we move through Christmas Eve on Sunday.

"Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm," the NWS office for New Orleans expects.

It will also be breezy, with a southeast wind 15 to 20 mph.

Chance of precipitation is 80% during the day for activities like brunches and lunches.

CHRISTMAS EVE NIGHT

For dinner on Christmas Eve, the chances for rain and storms get even higher Sunday Night.

"Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 60. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%."

WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone says there could be some flooding.

"The slow moving storm system could dump 1-3 inches of rain for areas with a few isolated spots picking up 4+ inches of rain. Of course if this falls too quickly then street flooding could happen in spots."

MIDNIGHT MASS

Midnight masses could be soggy too.

The Weather Service has the rain chance still around 75% until around 6:00am Christmas Day, when it drops to 50%.

CHRISTMAS DAY

The chance of showers goes down to about 30% after noon on Christmas Day.
