New Orleans city leaders respond to the damage left behind a possible tornado that swept through the metro area Tuesday night.

Severe weather possibly spawned a tornado, which downed trees, power lines, debris, and some damage to homes primarily in Carrollton, Broadmoor, and Algiers Point.
There have been no reports of injuries related to storm impacts.

The New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has activated the Emergency Operations Center to coordinate response efforts. Public safety agencies are assessing damages in neighborhoods across the city and directing traffic in impacted areas.

City leaders are urging commuters to use caution on roadways and to treat intersections as four-way stops if traffic signals are not operating properly. Residents can park on the neutral ground until 6pm today.

Approximately 4,000 power outages remain in Orleans Parish, down from over 10,000 immediately after the early morning storm according to the city. Entergy officials say crews are working to restore power as soon as possible.

The National Weather Service will survey damaged areas to determine whether the storm was in fact a tornado.
