Amtrak's City of New Orleans was delayed about seven hours Monday night into Tuesday morning after power lines fell across the train tracks in Mississippi.
"City of New Orleans Train 58, which departed New Orleans (NOL) on 5/19, continues to hold in Jackson (JAN) while railroad crews work to clear the downed power lines on the tracks," Amtrak alerted passengers Monday evening.
It took until about one o' clock in the morning before the train started moving again.
"As of 1:09 AM CT, Train 58 is now operating approximately 7hr late."
The delay turned the trip from New Orleans to Chicago into a more than 24 hour ride.
