Officials announced this afternoon that they have canceled events at New Orleans city Park this evening.

“We are disappointed to have to cancel the activities scheduled to celebrate and unite individuals from across our community this Fourth of July weekend," said City Park CEO Cara Lambright. "As stewards of a public space, it is paramount that the safety of Park users and our community are at the forefront of our decision-making."

She added that while weather has caused City Park to change our plans, officials are thankful that superstar Will Smith has funded fireworks on the 4th of July along the New Orleans riverfront.

Event canceled include:

-July 3, 2021 – Carousel Gardens Amusement Park. Due to inclement weather, the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park is closed for the remainder of the day. Ticket holders who used tickets on July 3, the QR code will be reactivated and valid for the remainder of this season

-July 3, 2021 – 3rd of July Celebration presented by Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust on the Goldring/Woldenberg Great Lawn from 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm. Due to anticipated isolated thunderstorms and current street flooding, New Orleans City Park will cancel planned Fourth of July celebrations scheduled for July 3rd, 2021.
