New Orleans officials are asking people to stop leaving trash cans by the road all the time.
City Hall officials tell residents to stop leaving their trash cans out on the curb all of the time.
“Folks are bringing their trash to the curb and just leaving there because they don’t know when it will be picked up, that is not an ideal situation, “ said mayoral spokesperson Beau Tidwell.
Tidwell says with the one-day-per-week trash pickup schedule, residents should put their trash cans out no sooner than the day of the scheduled pick up day.
Residents can find their pickup day by calling 311, or through the city's website.
Tidwell also says the city is getting closer to a regular pre-Ida schedule.
“It will be 45 days for the first pass to be completed,” said Tidwell. Today marks 44 days since Hurricane Ida hit Louisiana.
