As part of his end of the year round up, talking to WWL's Newell Normand, about the top political stories of 2022, Political Analyst and Pundit Clancy DuBos listed a number of issues which continue to dog Mayor LaToya Cantrell and her administration.
"It's everything from the recall to the travel scandal to living in the city apartment without paying rent, and not showing up for work. It's just one thing after another—the crime issue—she's just not getting her hands on it. She lost a police chief, and this was the police chief she always wanted. It's just one thing after another."
An exasperated Dubos finally settled on the recall, which he was amazed at.
"I never thought I'd live to see a mayor of New Orleans recalled. And I don't know if she's going to actually be recalled. But this is the most serious effort of a local recall that I've seen because it's the most organized and the most well funded."
Dubos went on to say the recall and the scandals are going to continue into 2023. DuBos says if the recall effort gets all their signatures by Ash Wednesday a recall election could be set for March or April. That's why he says the Cantrell Conundrum will continue to be one of the top developing stories of 2023.
