The U.S. Coast Guard shared a post on Facebook revealing they were able to help save a pelican from becoming another casualty of Hurricane Ida.
In the post, the USCG states that they came across the bird lying in the road while assessing damage in Port Fourchon. The pelican was injured and unable to fly.
The U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Houma was able to recover the bird and transport it to a recovery facility for wildlife.
