A cold front will bring much more comfortable conditions to the New Orleans metro area for the weekend.
After heat and high humidity on Friday, Saturday will feature drier air and high temperatures in the mid-70s. Expect much of the same on Sunday, though the humidity will creep up just a tad to close out the weekend.
As the new week begins, we'll see rain chances enter the forecast, starting at 20 percent on Monday and increasing as we move closer to next weekend.
The good news is that the forecast calls for only scattered showers and no downpours. The better news is that those showers will help with the ongoing drought. The bad news is that this moisture will bring an increase in humidity. That, combined with high temperatures around 80° will create some uncomfortable, but not necessarily oppressive, conditions in the region.
Speaking of the drought: a red flag warning will be in effect on Sunday. Strong winds combined with our ongoing drought could cause wildfires to spread quickly if a conflagration were to be ignited. Officials urge you not to conduct any outdoor burning during that warning.
