A tornado touched down in Assumption Parish, the National Weather Service confirmed, tossing a a mobile home into the local fire station.
The funnel touched down at the intersection of Highway 1011 and Supreme Cross Road in the Supreme and Labadieville areas, NWS reported.
WWL-TV reported that mobile homes were tossed off of their foundations, roofs were ripped off and transformers were blown into the street. The damage cut through a swath about a half-mile wide.
Cookie's Thrift Store was severely damaged, and staffers said they were glad no one was inside when the tornado struck. Firefighters remain on the scene for clean-up, but no injuries have been reported.
Many people in the area remain without power.
Additionally, three tornadoes touched down in Florida's Panhandle during a series of wild storms. The National Weather Service confirmed that at least three tornadoes have been reported as of Tuesday morning in and near Panama Beach.
