Controversial nursing home owner blows thumb off with .357

Nursing Home

WWL TV’s Mike Perlstein reports Bob Dean, a nursing home owner in hot water after moving over 800 patients to a warehouse in Tangipahoa during Hurricane Ida, blew his thumb off with a .357 revolver while showing it to someone at a car dealership outside of Atlanta.

The story cites the Thomaston Police Department which has charged Dean with reckless conduct, firing a weapon near a public road, and firing a weapon on another person’s property.

A Thomaston radio station detailed the alleged incident where Dean was transferring the firearm from one vehicle to another at the dealership, stopped to show the piece off to another person, and accidentally discharged blasting his thumb off.

Dean reportedly fled back to his lakefront mansion and refused medical aid, and ordered officers to leave his property.

Dean faces ongoing investigations into the deadly warehouse incident, along with several civil suits, but has yet to be arrested for the accidental discharge incident. Dean’s attorneys argue he should not be required to participate in the legal actions against him because he has dementia.
