The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office is hoping someone offers a tip that leads to the arrest of a man convicted two years ago of raping a child.
The sheriff's office says a jury convicted 39-year-old Dominique L. Linton in April 2024 on charges of rape and sexual battery on a victim under the age of 13. Despite the conviction, the sheriff's office says Judge Vercell Fiffie allowed Linton to be released from custody a few months later.
Nearly two years later, in June 2026, the Louisiana Supreme Court reversed Judge Fiffie's ruling, but Linton failed to show up for an August court hearing where he was to be remanded into police custody, the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office and U.S. Marshals Service have been looking for Linton ever since, but the sheriff's office says they believe Linton has fled Louisiana, possibly for Canada, to avoid punishment.
The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's office asks that anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dominique Linton to call their tip line at (985) 359-TIPS, or call Lieutenant Ann Taylor at (985) 359-8950, or call 911. Tips can also be submitted to the sheriff's office web site.
