Cops ask for help identifying man caught burglarizing home

Police want to know if you know a man captured by a doorbell camera, trying to burglarize a house.

"The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is asking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect of a residential burglary in the Spring Creek Community of Kentwood," according to a news release.

It happened on January 8, 2024, on Highway 1054 just before 2:00pm.

"As seen in the security footage, the homeowner's doorbell camera shows an unknown white male wearing a brown Carhartt jacket and blue jeans walking across the porch and making entry into her residence. As the suspect began to enter the residence, the voice of the homeowner through the doorbell camera scared the subject and he attempted to rip the camera from the door frame."

Deputies say the suspect fled in a dark blue Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 with no license plate.

"Detectives say the same vehicle has been seen at other homes in the area, as reported by citizens of the Spring Creek community."

They ask anyone with information to contact Sergeant Wylie Foster at 985-748-3337.

"If you wish to remain anonymous, please call Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa’s anonymous tip line at 1.800.554.5245 or visit www.tangicrimestoppers.com and click on the P3 Tips icon or Submit A Tip! You may be eligible for a cash reward."
