The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office says a father shot and killed his son who was armed with a gun and arguing with his mother.
A sheriff's office report says the 21-year-old son went to his parent’s St. Rose home on Dianne Drive armed with a semi-automatic handgun and wearing a bulletproof vest and began arguing with his mother.
According to police, when the father came home, the argument escalated and the son drew his gun at the father who was also armed and who fatally shot his son.
Police say the unidentified 21-year-old has a history of unstable and violent behavior and has been committed multiple times in the past for mental illness.
Police did not say if the father will face any charges.
