The surge in violent crime in New Orleans has another victim. This time an elderly man is dead. Cops say his son killed him and tried to kill himself.
It happened early Sunday morning.
"Members of the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting of a 68-year-old male and a self inflicted gunshot of a 30-year-old male," Public Information Officer Garry Flot said.
Cops were called to a home in the 2800 block Cherry Street in the Hollygrove neighborhood.
"At approximately 3:55 am., officers responded to a call of a shooting. Upon the officer’s arrival, they learned the 30-year-old male fatally shot his father and then shot himself."
The 30-year-old son was hospitalized with a gunshot wound.
"The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time."
