On the Northshore, deputies say a man set a house on fire, with his grandmother in the home north of Slidell.
The St. Tammany Sheriff's office says the Pearl River man had told the elderly woman he would burn her house down in the Hickory Community.
His grandmother was not injured.
"She escaped and called 911 from a neighbor’s residence," Sergeant Suzanne Carboni said in a news release. "STPSO detectives learned the elderly woman’s grandson, Nickolas Lee Barringer of Pearl River, had set the house on fire after texting his grandmother saying he was going to do so following an argument."
The 38-year old suspect was arrested last night.
"He will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on one count of aggravated arson. Barringer will also be booked on an outstanding warrant for Telephone Harassment."
