A man is dead and his brother behind bars after an early morning shooting on the Northshore.
"A Covington-area man was arrested early Saturday (May 16) morning following a fatal shooting at a residence on Highway 1081," St. Tammany Sheriff’s Lieutenant Suzanne Carboni said in a news release.
It happened shortly after 1:00am, when the sheriff’s office received a 911 call from a woman reporting that her uncle had shot her father.
"A second 911 call was also received from the suspected shooter. Deputies responded to the 20000 block of Highway 1081 near Covington, where they encountered 50-year-old Frank Jenkins at the residence. Jenkins told deputies he had shot his brother, 47-year-old William Jenkins, following an altercation."
William Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene with a gunshot wound.
"Frank Jenkins was taken into custody and transported to the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center, where he will be booked on one count of Second Degree Murder," Carboni said.
