The Krewe of Tucks will continue to throw rolls of toilet paper to crowds along the Uptown parade route.

The New Orleans City Council today passed an exception to its ban on throwing TP from parade floats, specifically for the Tucks parade.

Tucks has long been associated with toilet-themed throws, from bathroom plungers to miniature toilets designed to squirt water.

Its king rides a float adorned with a gigantic, gilded commode as a throne.

"In an effort to aid waste removal during the upcoming Mardi Gras season, the Council previously approved an ordinance prohibiting the use of toilet paper as a parade throw," the council said in a release following Thursday's meeting. "While toilet paper was most commonly used by the Krewe of Tucks...an increasing number of parading krewes without the historical tradition and satirical context of Tucks, have also begun to toss toilet paper, often unspooling the tissue and creating unsightly streamers that drape the oaks on St. Charles Ave. and hinder clean-up efforts."

The council's exception also directs Tucks riders to use biodegradable, marine-grade, or the most readily degradable form of toilet paper available for its throws.

Tucks is set to roll this year on Saturday, February 10.
