Covington man convicted of raping five young children

Folse
St. Tammany Parish District Attorney's Office

A Covington man is facing a life sentence after a jury found him guilty of raping and molesting several children.

The jury convicted Charles Michael Folse, II, on three counts of first-degree rape, five counts of child molestation, and one count of sexual battery.

Prosecutors told the jury that Folse repeatedly abused the victims, all of whom were under the age of 13, between 2007 and 2019. Sheriff’s deputies began investigating after the mother of one of the victims contacted them because the child’s school called her about her child’s behavior, which concerned school officials.

When the mother asked the child about what was going on, the child told her about the sexual abuse.

Prosecutors said as word spread, family members then learned other children in their family were victims of Folse’s abuse.

All five victims testified against Folse during the trial.

No word on when sentencing will take place.
