The Covington Police Department is investigating a homicide after a man was found dead inside a vehicle early Tuesday morning.
Police say officers patrolling the Covington Recreation Department, in the 4001 block of De Porres Road discovered a vehicle with a deceased subject inside.
An autopsy was performed on the deceased victim by the St Tammany Parish Coroner's Office and the cause of death has been ruled a homicide.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy and determined the victim was killed by a single gunshot wound.
The Covington Police Department is still awaiting for the coroner’s office to officially confirm the identity of the victim through dental records because the body was greatly decomposed before being discovered by police.
