ORIGINAL STORY, 2:45 p.m.: The Crescent City Connection from New Orleans to the Westbank is closed because police are investigating deadly shooting on the bridge.

According to a New Orleans Police Department spokesperson, officers are on the bridge trying to determine where exactly the shooting happened and what led up to it. The spokesperson says the victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police are treating the case as a homicide.

The Crescent City Connection headed towards the Westbank is closed at St. Charles Avenue. Drivers who need to get across the river should take either the Huey P. Long Bridge or the Hale Boggs Bridge.

While the eastbound CCC is open, traffic is at a standstill coming from the Westbank into New Orleans.
