A cruise ship passenger is in a New Orleans hospital after Coast Guard crews airlifted her from the boat after she fell ill.
According to Coast Guard officials, New Orleans watchstanders responded to a call from the Carnival Dream on Saturday when the ship was about 160 miles south of Southwest Pass.
Coast Guard officials say a 67-year-old woman showed signs of kidney failure, prompting cruise officials to call for the medivac helicopter. The Coast Guard sent an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to take the woamn to University Medical Center.
At last check, the woman's condition was stable.
