Entergy officials say major work to being restoring power will not be able to begin until damage assessments are complete.

That means the work likely won't being until Friday.

"Damage assessment is key," said Entergy's Sandra Miller. "It is so important for us to understand what we're facing."

Miller said they also need an assessment to be able to give better estimates on how long restoration will take.

"We're going to begin restoration as soon as we have assessments done in that area," said Miller. "Once we have the damage assessments complete, then we have a plan of execution."

Entergy officials say that for previous Category 2 hurricanes, the time frame is ten days for full restoration, but the vast majority of people will be reconnected to the grid sooner than that.
