The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash that happened along the interstate this morning in Metairie.
"Around 5:30 am, deputies were dispatched to a report of a crash involving two pickup trucks at the intersection of N. I-10 Service Rd. and Bonnabel Blvd.," Sergeant Brandon Veal said in an email.
The initial investigation indicated that one truck was traveling westbound on N. I-10 Service Rd. and the other was traveling southbound on Bonnabel Blvd.
"The two trucks crashed at the intersection. One of the drivers was pronounced dead on the scene. The other driver was transported to an area hospital for treatment."
Veal says no one else was in either truck.
Deputies are working to determine the cause of the fatal crash.
Crews closed the exit ramp from I-10 to Bonnabel following the crash.
