The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday near the intersection of Marigny Street and St. Claude Avenue.
At around 3:30 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to reports of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location.
Upon arrival, officers discovered one adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators are in the process of gathering information that will help them identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
