Dense fog descends on Southeast Louisiana

Fog formed overnight and made for some difficult driving.

"Fog is much worse this morning with visibility dropping to a few hundred feet in spots," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone explained. "Expect a slower commute until the fog lifts between 8:00 and 10:00am."

Drivers told WWL that it was very thick in spots.

"I come airline from Laplace. Today is the worst yet," one person texted.

"On the levee in Holy Cross the fog was so thic... you couldn't see," another advised.

Some drivers reported police convoying traffic on I-55.

"Heavy fog in Hammond on Hwy 190 and on I-55 south from Hammond to Laplace. I couldn't see a thing."

The Causeway started southbound convoys at 5:00am.

Malone says we could see it again tomorrow.

"We will likely see more fog Thursday morning although confidence is lower on how dense it will be."
