The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating an incident where a deputy fired his weapon while chasing two juveniles from New Orleans Wednesday night.
Neither teen, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old were hit by the gunfire.
The teens were in a Toyota Rav 4 reported as suspicious and possibly related to reports of gunfire heard in the area. The teens inside the vehicle had a gun as the deputy engaged the teens, one deputy ended up firing his weapon WWLTV reports.
The teens fled in the vehicle and eventually crashed into a canal on Plaza Drive. They then tried to flee on foot but one suspect was quickly caught in the 1900 block of Ames Blvd. the other was found and apprehended in the 6200 block of Lapalco Blvd.
The teens were taken by EMS to the hospital to be treated for the injuries they sustained from the crash. The sheriff’s office says the vehicle was found to be reported stolen out of New Orleans. Once they are released from the hospital, the teens face several charges says the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office did not release additional information about the teens or the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
