Ice, ice baby: it's not just a one-hit wonder. It's life for New Orleanians on the day after the historic snow storm.
Despite the treacherous conditions and warnings by state authorities to stay home, some people are taking the chance to sightsee in the Central Business District.
"We're actually stuck here," said Ben and Nora, a couple from Birmingham, England, who ventured out along Magazine Street on Wednesday.
With their plans to drive from New Orleans to Memphis scrapped, they're taking in the snowy sights around town. Already, they've had a run-in with the ice that's settled on the streets and sidewalks.
"You had a bit of a slip yesterday, didn't you?" Ben asked Nora. "We're trying to take small steps today to stop that from happening."
"Kind of a slow-motion fall that didn't do any damage," Nora replied. "It's more of a damage to your dignity, isn't it?"
Meanwhile, some native New Orleanians are pressing their luck by driving on the ice. One we spoke to, Tucker, said he's driving extra cautiously after seeing other drivers wipe out.
"It feels like I'm on a skating rink," Tucker said while his SUV stopped at the traffic light at the corner of Poydras and Magazine. "(I'm driving) as slow as possible. I'm barely putting my feet on the gas, and I'm keeping my eyes on the road for sure."
Tucker provided this advice for others who dare to drive in these icy conditions.
""Do not speed, and keep your eyes open, because I just saw somebody slide back there. Somebody did a whole 360." Tucker said. "Don't hit the breaks. Do not hit the breaks. If you slide, do not hit the breaks because it will make you slide more."
