A 17-year-old teen is dead; his 18-year-old companion is fighting for life at a hospital after a double shooting Friday evening in Westwego.
The gun violence erupted off Louisiana and Short Streets in Westbank community, just four blocks from the Westwego Police Department.
Both teens were walking along a side walk when they were shot multiple times.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, witnesses report hearing the gunfire, but did not know where the shots came from.
Authorities have ruled out the teens may have shot each other.
No other information is known about the case.
