This weekend, New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees will receive the gold jacket of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the entire Who Dat Nation is celebrating.
Having broken several NFL records, it's no surprise that Drew Brees reached the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, but Brees himself told WWL's SporstTalk the idea of "Hall of Famer Drew Brees" has taken some getting used to.
"It's kind of been a step-by-step process, and honestly, it's really surreal," Brees said, recalling when they announced the new Hall of Fame class during the NFL Honors the week of the Super Bowl. "You got all of these Hall of Famers walking up on stage to embrace and tell you welcome into the club."
The MVP of Super Bowl LXIV said opening his door to find Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts there to tell him he's in, along with a camera crew from NFL Films to catch the moment, was like something out of dream.
"I don't think it's fully going to hit me what's happening until we're in Canton and they're putting the gold jacket on me," he said.
The Hall of Fame ceremony will be broadcast on ESPN and NFL Network at 11 a.m. Saturday.
