An early morning accident on a rain slickened U.S. 90 has left one man dead.
At around 2:11 a.m., NOPD First District officers responded to the call of a vehicle crash on the I-10 West on-ramp off South Claiborne Avenue.
Upon arrival they discovered the wreckage of a Jeep Wrangler, and the body of its 50-year-old male driver.
The initial investigation has revealed that the victim was heading eastbound on U.S. 90 and merging onto the I-10 East on-ramp when, for reason undetermined, he lost control of his vehicle and went over the guardrails.
His vehicle landed and flipped onto the I-10 West on-ramp located on the lower level of the highway.
The victim suffered fatal injuries and died on scene.
