New Orleans police are investigating a fatal crash on I-10 Monday evening.
It happened on I-10 eastbound near Poydras Street about 8:40 p.m. according to police.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the driver on the lower portion of the road at Poydras Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
Investigators pieced together what happened and believe the man was driving at a high speed he crashed into the back of a red Dodge pickup truck. After the man exited the vehicle following the crash, police say for unknown reasons he went over the guardrail and fell to the road below.
