The end to the rain by midday Monday may be good news for the region. Jefferson Parish emergency manager Joe Valiente says now it is a matter of waiting to see if ice forms on bridges and overpasses.
"Our primary concern is how much moisture remains on the ground," said Valiente. "We've been very fortunate that the ran has stopped and that the streets appear to be drying up. We know that we do have a lot of puddles, so we're just going to have to keep an eye on the amount of available moisture that's on the ground."

And it is also potential good news for keeping the power on.
"Because the rain has stopped, we don't think that there's going to be a tremendous amount of ice that will accumulate on the power lines, weighing them down," said Valiente. "We think that that's working in our favor, that we're going to see a minimal amount of power outages tonight."
